Neighbourhood WATCH News

Another house was broken into on Sunday evening 1st April- there have been a spate of robberies at nearly one per week in the estate over the last few weeks. We urge all residents to ensure their alarms are on whenever they leave their house. The Gardai tell us that clear visibility into one's garden is important in terms of crime prevention. Any unusual activity should be recorded, notified to a NHW committee member or the local Gardai on 01 6665800.

Latest news- On Good Friday yet another house broken into on the Horseshoe around 9pm- that's 4 houses in nearly as many weeks.

Most of these robberies have taken place when the owners have been away for a short time-

A number of houses have been "Egged" at weekends over the last few weeks. If this happens you need to remove the substance quickly as it proves very difficult once it dries in. The issue has been reported to local Gardai and shops  have agreed not sell eggs  to youths.

Report any information to NHW members or the local Gardai

Have you seen a male youth on a motorbike taking a short cut from Rathdown Park into La Touche Park- This is not a road way and his actions are dangerous to the public. We need to notify the Gardai of his reg number...

As part of the fight against dog owners who don't pick up their dog's litter, the Association have painted anti dog litter signs on estate footpaths some of which can also be seen around  Greystones.

Of course we know that all dog owners in Rathdown Park always pick up after their dogs- however the signs are targetted at the many  visitors from other areas who pass through the estate and may not be aware of the dangers to children and the results of dragging this dirt through our houses on our shoes!

New speed signs launched for Rathdown Park.

Speeding cars driving through the estate is an ongoing problem. The signs are aimed at residents, and parents picking up children from St. Kevin's School who are often in a hurry.

We urge motorists to drive with care and attention as children are often playing behind parked cars and feel that they can run out onto the road without looking.

The Gardaí have recently set up a speed check in the estate so be aware!

Greystones coped with the recent rain very well and thanks has to be passed on to to the Area Engineer on the work undertken in clearing drains and remedial work at the harbour. In Rathdown Park, most of the water build up is simply caused by leaves covering drains and can easily be cleared by removing them to one side.

We will be looking for volunteers to assist (in the case of snow) in the gritting process. This worked well last year with a handful of people, but we need to get more involved. Please offer your name to a committee member if willing to take part!

This is the  website of  Rathdown Park Residents' Association in Greystones. It is intended as a method of keeping all the residents in touch with up to date news and to act as a noticeboard for what's happening in the local community.

Rathdown Park, located on the North side of Greystones Town has grown into a mature park with over 160 houses. The estate is nestled between Coolagad & the sea and from it you can  see the Big Sugarloaf, Little Sugarloaf, Coolagad Hill and Bray Head.

The residents of the estate are rightfully proud of Rathdown Park and take a keen interest in it's upkeep.  The estate won the Best Local Estate in the Tidy Towns competition in 2006 and did well in the competition again in 2009.

A most appealing aspect to the community are the two very safe green areas located within the estate, both of which are overlooked by houses and therefore are  very safe places for children to play. There are no through roads in the estate making the volume of traffic quite low.

Rathdown Park has a varied collection of mature trees that provide seasonal foliage but more so in the Spring time when the Cherry Blossoms are in full bloom, and the petals fall like snow on the roads.

The Committee concentrate a lot of their efforts and energy on a continuous replanting programme ensuring all dead trees are replaced. Between tree maintenance and grass cutting we spend €5,000 per annum

 Directions to Rathdown Park:

When driving from Bray, take the left turn at the Esso filling station. Driving into the estate you have a wonderful vista of the sea and harbour in front of you, with Bray Head to the left.

The Airport Aircoach Service operates to the entrance of the estate and the Sururban DART services operates to the village centre (1km away)

In order to fund the activities of the Committee an annual Maintenance Fee is collected and the  2011 fee has been set at €50  once again. This is exceptionally good value as fees in neighbouring estates are much higher at between 100 and 200 Euro. We are proud as a Residents' Association that membership in the scheme is so well subscribed to in Rathdown Park. The majority of the fee is spend on the regular cutting of the grass on the various greens and the tree planting programme. In order to maintain the level of service as previous years, please drop any uncollected fees to a committee member near you
