Snow and Frost

After the winter of January 2010 we have placed a wheelie bin half way down the main road for the supply of road salt. The Council will initially fill it so we can use as needed. There are key holders living within the area. Contact the committee for more details

Litter- 13 bags of rubbish were removed from the area between Rathdown Park & La Touche Park by committee members. It mainly consisted of hundreds of beer cans, beer bottles and building rubble. Anyone with information on this serious dumping should contact a committee member or the litter authorities. The litter warden number is 1890 54 88 37

Shrubs at the Entrance

As you can see, the circular shrubs on the Main Road to the left have finally been removed. These had become overgrown and out of control, and was being used by some people to dump rubbish.

Another tree has been planted in the centre piece.

The pathway is now clear to walk on again.

Lights & Footpaths

If you notice that any of the lamps are not working   please take the number of the lamppost from the actual post and either let one of the Committee Members know or contact the Town Council on  287 7122/ 287 6694. A list of unserviceable lamp posts was passed to the ESB services area in April 2009 and they were repaired and a further chack carried out in March 2010 and all were working.

Footpaths A survey of broken paths was carried out in May 2009 and the prioritised findings passed to the council soon after. The Council undertook the repairs during the summer and the paths are now much improved.

Roads.Clr Kathleen Kelleher wrote to the authorities again in March 2010 about paths outside 29 and 82 together and the state of the road surface in the 1st Cul de Sac in the estate.

The Cul de sac entrance  to Redford Park. The Association will soon be painting the wall when the weather improves and will clear out the ivy and plant some Easallonia bushes.

The Entrance Wall

The Entrance Wall has been re built to the original style and a row of Red Robbins planted in front. This had been in a bad state of repair for the last few years and we would thank all our members as the cost of the wall is a considerable proportion of our annual receipts.

You can email the committee on rathdownpra@hotmail.com

Dogs

The only solution to dog fouling is for any resident that sees a dog performing is to report him to the Litter Warden.  Even if the owner only receives a phone call to let them know the penalty is €1,900 they may think twice of letting them off the lead.  For nuisance dogs the dog warden needs to be contacted.  If you see a dog, report it!

Shutters Over the years many of our shutters have fallen into a state of disrepair as the wood has deteriorated from the weather.A group scheme is being put in place to secure window shutters as many are now falling into a bad state of repair. These are being purchased from the UK and anyone interested, please contact Judy Meagher at no 111.

At the moment the price is circa €150 per house set

Lately, Rathdown Park has seen a lot of rain leading to streams of water running down it's roads. Everyone should make an effort to ensure that the drains outside our houses are clear of debris. Much of the water on our roads is as a result of leaves simply blocking drains. We cannot expect the council to remove these.

However, of greater concern would be the situation of culvets running under the estate towards the sea and whether they are blocked. Questions have been asked whether the water on the main green was caused by rain water or a burst pipe underneath. The Residents' Committee is to bring up the issue with the authorities.

Alarms- Please ensure your alarm is fully serviced and does not go off accidentally. This is a nuisance for stay at home people, shift workers and people with young babies. We have received more complaints lately relating to alarms. It's about courtesy- that's all.
